I still have not finished this book as the first 3 chapters made me mad at Kitty Kelly. It is my summer goal on the other hand to finish this book like the content or not. Kitty must really want to secure her retirement because an Oprah movie is on the way.

We have a few large purchases to make over the next few months. Buying a new vehicle and heading off to college at the same time is making me a bit nervous about our cash flow. Conveniently there was a recorded episode of Oprah featuring the follow up to last year’s Debt Diet show.
First off it was cool to see all of the families and how they were doing a year later. I have to say that this show was very inspiring and has yet again kept me focused on how I should spend my money. Oprah really should update and add new families each year so we all can stay motivated.
Here is a scary stat from the show. 70% of Americans are living pay check to pay check right now.
To see if we are making correct decisions this show had exactly what I was looking for, a monthly spending formula that was quick and easy to follow. Base your calculations off of your bring home income.
There you have it folks, its pretty simple. If a family is not within those percentages then some adjustments need to be made. If the numbers are scary then you should probably talk to a professional. Click to see more tips and stories from Oprah's Debt Diet.
Another interesting discussion was the story of the couple who didn’t shop for an entire year. I am just going to say that I could never do this and don’t want to. Some of the results were pretty amazing though and they wrote a book about the journey. The book is called Not Buying it, My Year Without Shopping.

My DVR has been wacky so I have been watching Oprah episodes out of order. Yesterday I watched the Oprah and Naomi Campbell interview. I absolutely loved this episode as Oprah threw the hard questions at her in a nice way and really spotlighted delicately Naomi and her diva attitude.
I really hope that Naomi stays on the path that she is currently on. Naomi seems to be in a good place and I admire her willingness to admit that at 40 years old she is still learning and growing just like the rest of us.
One statement was made during this interview that sparked my attention. I really don’t follow models and fashion much so I’m totally oblivious to that world. Oprah stated how Naomi was part of the Big Six. This sparked my curiosity and after the show I was Googling again.
What is the Big Six you ask? We all know it was a group of people but who is what I wanted to know. The Big Six was a group of Supermodels in the 90’s. It consisted of Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell.
I know this is info that we were all dying to know but I was curious and thought I would check it out. Do you have a favorite model? If so who? I always liked Kathy Ireland and Tyra.
To read the whole interview and see how stunning Naomi is at 40 click here.

This topic is old Oprah news but I wanted to post about it as I made my donation today. The more I see Will I Am on Oprah the more I like him. It’s still amazing to me how shy he is with all the amazing music he puts out onto the radio waves. Watching him on this episode showed that most times we don’t need a lot of words but a lot of action from a person with a big heart.
If you missed it there was an episode on Oprah last month where Will I Am paid off the mortgages of two families that were about to lose their homes. I wanted to cry watching the whole spectacular moment unfold. A business executive and a mom who had done everything right but were still hurt by the economy had their lives changed forever.
I loved it when Will I Am said that he didn’t want to wait for a disaster to help others but wanted to help those that needed it right now. I guess most stars raise funds to start their own charities but Will I Am is putting up all of his own money to get this going. Of course these actions makes me want to help him.
Watch the video to see what I think is one of the best moments on Oprah this year and go to the I Am Home website for more information on how you can help keep a family in their home.
