Did You Know: Skin and Nails

According to Dr. Oz kale helps the liver, provides Vitamin A, improves your complexion and gives you radiant skin, while hazelnut builds stronger nails?

You can use hazelnut in many different recipes. This blackberry hazelnut cookie recipe sounded yummy. I like to use kale in my minestrone soup and will sometimes blend it into my smoothies.

Did You Know: Worldwide Girl Power

Did you know that in Norway 40% of board members must be women and that other countries are starting to follow this 2002 law that was put into place? How cool is that?

I read this bit of info after noticing the girl power in last week’s elections here in the US. First was Meg Whitman the former CEO of EBay running for California Governor. By the way she is worth 1.5 billion. Followed by former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina running for Senator, Sharron Angle a Republican from Nevada running for Senator, Blanche Lincoln a Democrat running for Senator in Arkansas and Nikki Haley a Republican running for Governor of South Carolina.

I may not agree with all these ladies points of view but it sure is nice to see more women taking a stab at politics. If the few with the corporate backgrounds can help propel large companies to success, maybe while in office they could help straighten out America’s financial issues.

I have been experimenting with vlogging and You Tube lately and thought that this was interesting. You Tube exceeds 2 billion views a day, wow.

Did You Know: Colon Cancer

Colon Cancer is the 2nd leading cause of cancer death in the US. This cancer kills 50 thousand per year.

It can take 10 years before you will feel your first symptoms from this cancer and unfortunately the cancer has spread at that point.

To lower your risk try the following:

Eat red meat less than 3x per week.

Take a low dose asprin regularly but talk to your doc first. I know personally what asprin can do to the stomach.

Take a multivitamin with folate.

Get a colonoscopy because it can cure the problem sometimes.
