Guilt Free Comfort Food

Submitted by lucyluu on Thu, 09/24/2009 - 20:56

According to Dr. Oz you can spend up to 2 hours 27 minutes on the treadmill burning off certain foods. Both dishes that he discussed are some of my favorites when Im hormonal or sad. Make these changes to reduce your exercise time.

The first is Mac N Cheese. I love this dish especially the good old heart attack kind made with whole milk and lots of butter. After seeing the amount of time it will take me to burn off this food, I realize that I need to make some changes. Especially because Im not running right now.

Mac N Cheese takes 2 hours 27 minutes to burn off on the treadmill. Use low fat cheese and take off 25 minutes of time. Take the butter out, add Ricotta and lose 20 more minutes. Finally use no fat skim milk instead of whole milk and lose 55 minutes. This gives Dr. Oz's Mac N Cheese a burn off time of 47 minutes.

Good old fashioned burger and fries takes 2 hours 32 minutes to burn. Replace the meat with a 6oz sirloin and lose 24 minutes. Bake the fries and lose antoher 24 minutes. Use an English Muffin instead of a bun and drop the total treadmill time down to 1 hour. I also noticed that there was no cheese on Dr. Oz's burger.

The burger changes I might be able to handle but Im not sure on the taste difference of the Mac N Cheese. I think I would just rather skip it all together than eat it without all the yummy flavor.

Head to his site to find out more great info. http://doctoroz.com/
